“Noah and I just returned home to Upaya after two months of heartwarming travel, learning, service, and joy. We miss the deep smiles of our Nepali friends and the great mountains, and we are full of love and appreciation for the remarkable Nomads Clinic team of Nepalis and Westerners who gave so much to the mountain people.” - Joan Halifax

The Upaya Nomads Clinic is a group of medical clinicians and a support team who make a month long annual medical journey of service to the Himalayan region and Tibetan Plateau to serve health care needs in remote mountain communities by offering free services and training. The clinic provided Western medicine, Tibetan medicine, acupuncture, physical therapy, stretching (yoga), donations of children’s clothing, dental hygiene, hygiene clinics, as well as birth control and pregnancy counseling.

"Knowing about something will not necessarily make you a stakeholder of change. Embodied knowledge is more likely to instigate change. This means that if you have emotional or embodied knowledge about the climate, war and peace, or hunger you are much more likely to act upon it. I am excited by the fact that the UN Live will cultivate this kind of deep, emotional learning. " Olafur Eliasson
